The short answer
A 5 ft residential-grade ornamental aluminum fence costs about $28–$40 per foot installed — roughly $4,200–$6,000 for 150 ft before gates. Grade, height and top style move it; slat privacy panels are a separate, pricier product. Set your own fence below.

Every combination the calculator prices, as text. Figures are installed per linear foot for the fence alone on flat ground at national-average labour; gates and tear-out are separate. Each cell opens the calculator set to that fence.

How the estimate is built
- Grade sets the base range — the same residential, commercial and industrial ranges the aluminum cost guide publishes, from one dataset. They describe a flat-top ornamental fence at 5 ft.
- Height scales it. A 4 ft pool-height fence costs about 11% less than 5 ft; 6 ft about 11% more, using the same height steps as every calculator on the site.
- Top detail is a premium. Spear or finial tops add 10–20%, the figure published for the equivalent iron detail; puppy pickets 8–15%. The ordering is reliable; the exact percentage is modelled.
- Privacy panels are priced separately, at their own 6 ft range, because they are a different product with heavier posts — not ornamental fencing with the gaps filled.
Local rules vary. If the fence encloses a pool, local barrier code governs height, picket spacing and gate hardware, and it is often stricter than the model code — check your state.

Frequently asked questions
- How do I calculate the cost of an aluminum fence?
- Linear feet × a per-foot rate for your grade and height, plus top detail and gates per unit. 5 ft residential is about $28–$40/ft, so 150 ft is roughly $4,200–$6,000.
- How much does 200 feet of aluminum fence cost?
- Roughly $5,600–$8,000 for 200 ft at 5 ft, residential grade, before gates.
- How much does an aluminum pool fence cost?
- About $2,489–$3,556 for 100 ft at 4 ft, before a self-closing gate. Totals by enclosure size are in aluminum pool fence cost.
- How much does an aluminum privacy fence cost?
- About $40–$75/ft at 6 ft — above ornamental, because solid panels need heavier posts.
- Do I need commercial-grade aluminum?
- Usually not. It earns its premium for heavy gates, 6 ft runs exposed to impact, or a large dog that hits the fence.
- Is this calculator a quote?
- No — a planning range. No email, and nothing you enter is sent anywhere unless you ask for quotes.
